Banks of the Marne

This landscape painting by Paul Cézanne features rich dark greens with a vibrant sky of blues and violets. Cézanne painted this during his “underground” years that lasted from 1877 to 1895 when he dropped out of the French art scene. He continued to paint simply for the joy of it.
