Skull with a Burning Cigarette

Skull with a Burning Cigarette

by Vincent Van Gogh

Type: oil

Location: Van gogh museum

The colors in this painting feature earth tones most likely sienna paints and umber paints. Van Gogh painted this Skeleton when he was in Antwerp, Belgium taking classes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He said the school was boring and taught him nothing [1] so this piece is probably making fun of the school. :)
